Bulk custom sticker sheets compared with individually cut vinyl stickers printed in the UK

Custom Sticker Sheets vs Individually Cut Stickers: Which Should You Order?

Custom Sticker Sheets vs Individually Cut Stickers: Which Should You Order?

If you need custom stickers, one of the first decisions is whether you want them supplied individually or kept together on sheets.

Both options can use the same artwork and the same quality materials. The difference is mainly how we lay them out, finish them and hand them over to you. That changes the price, the time involved and what the stickers are best used for.

I’m Sam, the owner of Blum Decals. We print both options in-house from our unit in Burbage, so this is the straightforward version of which one to buy—not a complicated print-industry answer designed to sell you the most expensive choice.

What are individually cut stickers?

Individually cut stickers are supplied as separate pieces. Each sticker has been cut out from the larger printed sheet, leaving you with single stickers that are ready to hand out, pack into orders or sell.

Depending on the chosen cut, the backing may follow the shape of the design or have a simpler outer shape around it. The main point is that you receive separate finished pieces rather than a stack of larger sheets.

They are normally the better choice when presentation matters or you need to distribute one sticker at a time.

What are bulk custom sticker sheets?

Our bulk sheet option is designed to keep the production process simple and the cost per sticker down.

We arrange repeated copies of one uploaded design across a large 100 × 45cm printed sheet. The stickers are kiss cut so each design peels away from the backing, but we do not separate every sticker by hand. The full print is trimmed into approximately A4-sized sections for postage.

You still receive laminated vinyl stickers. You simply receive them on sheets instead of as hundreds of loose pieces.

Why are stickers on sheets cheaper?

The biggest saving is finishing time.

Printing a sheet of repeated designs is efficient. Separating, sorting and handling every single sticker adds another stage. When we leave the stickers on the backing sheets, we can pass that saved time back in the price.

It is a good example of paying for the thing you actually need. If the stickers are going straight onto takeaway cups, parcels or packaging, there is not much benefit in paying us to separate every one first.

Approximate quantities per sheet

The exact number depends on the artwork shape and how efficiently it fits, but the following is a useful guide for our 100 × 45cm bulk sheet:

Sticker size Approximate quantity
3cm 250
4cm 160
5cm 100

These quantities are approximate rather than guaranteed. A wide logo and a neat circle of the same quoted size do not take up the same amount of space. We also allow space between cut lines and bleed around the artwork so the finished result cuts properly.

When sticker sheets are the better option

Choose bulk custom sticker sheets if you are:

  • adding logo stickers to takeaway cups;
  • sealing tissue paper or packaging;
  • branding postal boxes and envelopes;
  • labelling bags or containers;
  • using the stickers yourself in one location;
  • ordering a high quantity on a tighter budget;
  • happy to peel each sticker from a larger sheet when needed.

They work particularly well for small businesses that use the same design every day. Keep a trimmed sheet near the packing bench and peel a sticker whenever an order goes out.

When individually cut stickers are better

Choose individual stickers if you are:

  • putting one free sticker into each customer order;
  • handing them out at shows or events;
  • selling them as single stickers;
  • including them in subscription boxes;
  • splitting an order between staff, branches or customers;
  • using them as promotional giveaways;
  • particular about the presentation of each piece.

If the sticker itself is the product, individual finishing normally feels more complete. If the sticker is a practical part of your packaging process, sheets often make more sense.

Is the print quality different?

It does not need to be. A sheeted sticker is not automatically a cheaper material or lower-quality print.

Our bulk sticker sheets are printed and laminated in-house. The saving comes from the layout and reduced finishing, not from quietly swapping the material for something worse.

That distinction is worth checking wherever you order. “Cheap stickers” can mean an efficient production method, or it can mean a genuinely cheap product. They are not the same thing.

What size should you choose?

Start with where the sticker needs to go rather than picking a size because it sounds good.

3cm stickers

Best for small logos, packaging seals and simple designs. Fine text can become hard to read at this size, so keep the artwork clear.

4cm stickers

A useful middle ground for cups, bags, boxes and branded packaging. It gives most logos more breathing room without taking over the whole item.

5cm stickers

Better when the design contains more detail or needs to stand out. These work well as box seals, parcel branding and promotional stickers.

Print your design at the intended size on normal paper before ordering. It is a very basic test, but it instantly shows whether the text is readable and the logo feels right on your packaging.

What artwork should you upload?

The better the supplied artwork, the better the sticker can look. A high-resolution PNG, PDF or vector file is normally far more useful than a tiny screenshot downloaded from social media.

Your artwork should include:

  • a clean version of the design;
  • enough resolution for the chosen print size;
  • clear text with no important detail too close to the edge;
  • transparency if you do not want a white rectangle behind the design.

We allow for bleed and spacing when setting up the print. If you are unsure about the cut shape, use the order notes and explain what you want. Choosing a proof gives you the chance to check the setup before production.

Should you order one big sheet or individual stickers?

Here is the simplest way to decide:

Choose sheets when you want the lowest practical cost and will peel the stickers yourself. Choose individual stickers when you need each piece ready to hand out, pack or sell.

Neither is the “proper” option. They solve different jobs.
