SUNSTRIP INSTALL GUIDE

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Sunstrips must be installed dry only (no wet install). Apply between 10°C-25°C for best adhesion, and prep the glass using isopropyl alcohol only. No glass cleaners, detailers or water. Allow at least 2 hours to cure (ideally 48 hours before moisture or wipers). Incorrect installation may result in failure, so please follow our guide carefully. lf you are using a professional installer, ensure they read this guide fully. Not all vinyl behaves the same.

  • STEP 1

The success of your sunstrip comes down to prep. Thoroughly clean the windscreen using a clean microfibre cloth and isopropyl alcohol (IPA). This removes all dirt, dust, grease and contaminants from the surface. You must remove any waxes, ceramic coatings, Rain-X, gloss enhancers or sealants — these will prevent proper adhesion. Do not use household glass cleaners. Most are ammonia-based and leave behind a slick residue, which can cause the vinyl to lift or form bubbles over time. Ensure the glass is completely dry before moving on. If needed, use a hairdryer/heat gun or allow the glass to dry naturally in the sun.

  • STEP 2

Measure & Position - Offer the sunstrip up to the windscreen and secure it in place using masking tape. Take your time here - measure, step back, and measure again. Use symmetrical reference points on the glass to ensure the strip is level and centred. Once you're happy, create a vertical strip of masking tape down the middle of the sunstrip. This acts as your hinge point.

  • STEP 3

One Side at a Time - Peel the backing paper away from one side up to the centre hinge. Cut the backing cleanly with scissors — do not tear it, as loose fibres can get trapped under the vinyl and create air pockets. Hold the vinyl slightly taut and get ready to apply.

  • STEP 4

Apply with Squeegee - Using a felt-edged squeegee, apply the vinyl from the centre outwards with firm, even pressure. Work slowly to push air out as you go. If you notice bubbles or creases, gently lift the vinyl and reapply. Air release (MetaScape) vinyl is forgiving, so take your time to get a clean finish. For best results, this can be done solo - but having a second person helps. One can hold the vinyl taut while the other applies. Do not trim anything at this stage.

  • STEP 5

Repeat for the Other Side - Remove or reposition the centre hinge tape. Peel away the remaining backing paper and repeat the same process, working from the centre outwards.

  • STEP 6

Trim & Finish (Safety First) - Once fully applied, squeegee all edges firmly to ensure full adhesion. Carefully trim excess vinyl using a sharp craft knife. Take extra care around rubber seals and edges of the windscreen.
